Montana Start Up Receives National Enviro Award

Sweet Onion Creations chosen as greenest new business in US contest sponsored by StartupNation, Dell, Southwest Airlines, and Microsoft Small Business.

Bozeman, MT — November 5, 2007 -

Sweet Onion Creations, a Montana-based company that builds 3-dimensional architecture models, computer renderings, and presentation websites received StartupNation’s Greenest Startup Business Award for their efforts to reduce environmental impact. The award was announced on MSN.com.

This nationwide contest was sponsored by StartupNation.com, Dell Computers, Southwest Airlines and Microsoft Small Business. Thousands of first year businesses from across the country participated in the competition by detailing ways they are trying to minimize their environmental footprint. The winners were chosen by a panel of entrepreneur judges.

Sweet Onion Creations’ efforts to reduce its carbon footprint include purchasing Green Tags, which are renewable energy credits generated using Montana wind farms. Each Green Tag purchased offsets 1,400 lbs. of carbon pollution. These are applied against Sweet Onion’s electrical use and the carbon output from shipping architecture models around the country. Every Sweet Onion project includes a minimum of one Green Tag.

Additionally, the company supports green building practices through its Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Discount Program, where any architecture model, computer rendering, or presentation website used as a tool going for the US Green Building Council’s LEED certification is automatically eligible for a 10% discount.
