KELLY PERKINS APPEARS ON WORDFM’S JOHN & STEPHANIE PROGRAM

Heart Transplant Recipient Who Climbs Mountains Around the World to Inspire Others Discusses Her New Biography, The Climb of My Life

Heart transplant recipient and world-class mountain climber Kelly Perkins appears as a guest today on WordFM’s John & Stephanie Show to discuss her new memoir, The Climb of My Life (Rowman & Littlefield.)   The interview will air in the 5PM hour*, and a live stream of the program can be accessed from the www.WordFM.com homepage with the “LISTEN LIVE ” link.

Perkins climbs mountains around the world to inspire others to dream big and to be a positive role model for organ donation.  Since her heart transplant surgery in 1995, Kelly and her husband Craig have successfully climbed to the peaks of the most noted mountains around the world, including Mount Fuji, Mount Kilimanjaro, the Matterhorn, Half Dome, Mount Whitney, and Mount Aspiring in New Zealand, all on a borrowed heart.  Kelly’s memoir details the illness that led to her heart transplant at the age of 34, her recovery, and how she and her husband Craig have overcome many obstacles to climb mountains around the world while maintaining good health and a hopeful and optimistic outlook on life.
