Oscar Red Carpet Tips: How to mix glam with comfort.

The most wanted item in the Oscar gift bag this year costs less than $7 and it can make you fall in love with your favorite pair of Manolos all over again.

Los Angeles, CA — February 13, 2008 -

The fashionista motto says, “beauty is pain” and, no doubt, countless women have suffered for their favorite pair of Manolos or Jimmy Choos. In 2007, one of those women, Kristene Canady, released a product that would save women from their pedi-misery by taking the “ouch” out of looking fabulous, even in stilettos. And who is most in need of her amazing discovery this time of year? Celebs walking red carpets, that’s who. That’s why her magical mystery product will be in the Oscar gift bags this year.

Introducing….

The Toe Pillow

  • The flagship product from ToeMates enables the body’s weight to be more evenly distributed across the toes to “remove the ouch” from high heels.
  • The memory foam piece is cut to size and then inserted into the toe of the shoe, easing the discomfort of scrunched toes and calluses.
  • Will be included in the Oscar Gift Bags distributed to the 2008 Academy Award nominees and presenters.
  • Available for sale online at www.taylorshoes.com.
  • Retail price: $6.99 each. One package will accomodate one pair of shoes.
  • 50% of profits from Toe Pillow sales are donated to the EMPower4Life Foundation, which provides assistance to battered women.

Kristene Canady Bio

When Kristene Canady was recruited by Ford Motor Company as an analyst in 1999, her ambitions took her all over the country, touring the male-dominated world of the auto industry. She often spent 10 to 12 hours a day on her feet. As a recent business school grad, she was driven to prove herself in the company…and she was determined to do her job in heels.

Spending so many hours in heels each day left Canady’s toes in excruciating pain. She tried shoving everything from cotton balls to toilet paper into her shoes to get some relief. After searching internet and retail stores, it was clear there were no products available to keep women’s toes from sliding forward in their high heel shoes. This was her “Aha!” moment and Canady saw a business opportunity.

Canady left Ford in 2002, and shortly after she began researching, developing, and eventually creating the ToeMates line of products. The Toe Pillow and ToeToes became available for sale in 2007, and at the same time Canady created the Empower4life Foundation. (Fifty percent of profits from sales of the Toe Pillow go towards funding the non-profit organization aiding battered women.) As a former victim of domestic violence herself, she wanted the success of her company to create opportunities for other victims of domestic violence.

Canady resides in the Kansas City area with her husband. She is a University of Kansas alum and received her MBA from Baker University.
