KING CORN: The Documentary Sweeping the Nation!

Would You Like Some Corn With That?

New York, NY - April 22, 2008 - Earth Day

-KING CORN is a feature documentary about two friends, one acre of corn, and the subsidized crop that drives our fast-food nation. In KING CORN, Ian Cheney and Curt Ellis, best friends from college on the east coast, move to the heartland to learn where their food comes from. With the help of friendly neighbors, genetically modified seeds, and powerful herbicides, they plant and grow a bumper crop of America’s most-productive, most-subsidized grain on one acre of Iowa soil. But when they try to follow their pile of corn into the food system, what they find raises troubling questions about how we eat—and how we farm.

-The Greening of America. KING CORN offers a shocking look at the amount of pesticides and herbicides that are used in corn farming and brings to light the disturbing impact that these products have on the environment. KING CORN is a great companion film to the green movement.

-Corn is in virtually everything we eat today. High fructose corn syrup is in all kinds of products from tomato sauce to soda. Most cattle are corn-fed which leads to less lean meat. When you eat that hamburger and drink that soda, you are really eating…corn.

-Subsidizing obesity and diabetes. There are many links between high fructose corn syrup, diabetes and obesity. Americans are eating corn like crazy - its almost impossible to avoid….and its making Americans overweight and sick.
