The Children’s Heart Foundation Selects Curator For "Pulse" Event

The Children’s Heart Foundation - Oregon Chapter has announced the selection of Mark Woolley as the curator for the non-profit’s upcoming art fundraiser known as PULSE.

The Children’s Heart Foundation - Oregon Chapter has announced the selection of Mark Woolley as the curator for the non-profit’s upcoming art fundraiser known as PULSE.

Woolley has been the irreverent and eccentric supporter of cutting edge art over the past 15 years and is owner of Mark Woolley Gallery on 2nd Street in Downtown Portland. He will be responsible for curating emerging as well as established artists from the Northwest to participate in this years PULSE.

“Mark Woolley is a leading art collector who has dedicated his career to progressing Portland into the throes of national recognition. His passion for the arts and dedication to local fundraising will give the patrons of PULSE an exciting glimpse into the worlds of some incredibly talented artists,” said Heather Helmy, President of the Children’s Heart Foundation – Oregon Chapter.

A one-of-a-kind artistic soiree, PULSE features 35 artists, working side-by-side for more than eight hours, to create individual pieces of work that are then auctioned to the attendees who watched them evolve.

The last PULSE gala generated over $60,000 and drew over 400 attendees.  The money raised directly benefits the Oregon Chapter of The Children’s Heart Foundation, which is the only organization that is exclusively focused on funding the most promising research to advance the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of congenital heart defects.

Staver Locomotive, located at 2537 NW 29th Street in Portland, will be the site of PULSE on November 8th, 2008.  The festivities start at 5 pm with a special preview party offering an advance look at the art and the process with the doors opening to all patrons at 7pm for the PULSE party and art auction.
